Resumo

The Gross Domestic Product - GDP is one of the instruments of measurement of the economy of a country being considered a form of evaluation of the growth and the investment potential of the same. Among the various relations that can be established for GDP numbers, one should consider the country's default rate as an interference with this index. This research aimed to analyze the impact of default on the growth of Brazil's Gross Domestic Product from 2006 to 2010. Through a bibliographic search and access to official data of the rates and indices proposed by the work it was possible to identify several aspects. relevant to the problem, which fit the need for deepening such as the GDP calculation formulas, for example. Looking at the year-over-year delinquency rate and GDP figures for the same period, it was observed that even with the latter's growth, the delinquency rate was high, while it declined in periods of recession or stagnation of GDP. It was possible to conclude that in periods of low Gross Domestic Product individuals tend to settle their doubts considering the offer of better trading conditions, directly interfering GDP growth
