Religiosidade e espiritualidade na saúde dos idosos rurais e ribeirinhos: uma estratégia de enfrentamento à COVID 19

Abstract

Identify the role of religiosity and spirituality in the health of the elderly in the context of the COVID 19 pandemic. Method: Descriptive research with a qualitative approach carried out in two rural and/or riverside communities in the metropolitan region of Manaus AM. The Focus Group technique was used to collect data, using a previously established script. The data were organized in the MAXQDA software and analyzed using the content analysis technique. Results: from the statements collected, 185 codes were found, two of which emerged into two categories: “Faith as a strategy for coping with COVID 19” and “Belief and health care”. Conclusion: Religiosity and spirituality function as a support for the health of this population and help them face adversity situations such as those experienced during the pandemic due to social distancing and feelings of vulnerability
