Resumo
The universal joints are widely used in the most diverse sectors, once that their use is it possible to transmit power and torque under misalignment conditions between the axles. In the automotive sector, three main types of joints stand out: Cardan joint, Rzeppa joint and Tripoid joint. This work contemplates the dimensioning through the application of a methodology of design of the universal joints and driveshaft applied to a Baja vehicle. In order to obtain the best design solution, each part of the design was divided into stages: conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design and simulations. Through this process, the most appropriate system for the Baja vehicle was selected, the main components of the system were studied, the loads acting on the system were calculated, each component was dimensioned, each component was CAD-modeled and parametric static simulations and fatigue simulations were performed. In this way, generate a reliable system, unique and able to meet the requests required in the competition.
