Resumo

The Amazon context presents peculiarities regarding the production of urban space, as well as its dynamics and networks. In this way, the importance of analyzing the networks of flows as articulators between places and as a support for the reproduction of many cities in the Amazon was taken into account. This research is justified because it is an attempt to understand how a small floodable city in the Amazon is structured. The objectives were to carry out a study on the (re)production processes that structure the economy of the city of Barreirinha, identify the economic relations of Barreirinha with rural communities and the cities of Parintins, Manaus and Boa Vista do Ramos, having as a final product the map the flow of people and goods to and from Barreirinha, as well as verifying the importance of the Barreirinha economy for Amazonas. A bibliographic survey was carried out with emphasis on the writings of Roberto Lobato Corrêa, Ana Fani, Henri Lefebvre, José Ademir de Oliveira and Milton Santos on the categories and themes necessary for the performance of the research, as well as the analysis of data provided by the IBGE. In addition, three qualitative-quantitative interviews were conducted with owners of retail, boats and passengers, following the specificities of the subjects. In this work, the theoretical bases concerning the themes of cities and the general and specific urban space of the Amazon are reviewed. The concepts of networks and flows are presented, in addition to the development of the research itself, showing the features of the study area, the details of the data obtained and the relationships between Barreirinha, other cities and the rural environment. The relevance of the networks for the reproduction of Barreirinha was identified, as well as their consolidation in the urban network of Amazonas. It was also found that the social and economic reproduction of Barreirinha is intrinsically linked to public service, government benefits, informal work and family agricultural production and that the city's relationship with water provides it with its own urban dynamics.
