Resumo
Bryophytes are small plants with a relatively simple structure, inhabiting the most diverse
substrates, such as rock surfaces, trunk base, living leaves, roofs, among others. They promote
great ecological, moreover, present great significance to the environment by urbanization. The
present work is a preliminary survey of bryophytes from the middle Rio Madeira region. The
methodology used was field collection and later they were presented as identifications with
the help of the recommended literature. Of the 82 samples of Bryophytes collected in the region
of the middle Rio Madeira, 37 specimens were identified, totaling 24 species, distributed in 15
genera and 11 families. The mosses (Bryophyta) identified were distributed in 18 species. The
liverworts (Marchantiophyta) were identified six species. The most representative families
were Calymperaceae and Lejeuneaceae. Two species are new records for the State of
Amazonas, namely: Campylopus gardneri (Müll.Hal) Mitt. and Campylopus lamellinervis
(Müll.Hal.) Mitt. (Dicranaceae Schimp.).
