Resumo

The referred work has as theme “Studies of Morphology through Anthroponymy in the municipality of Tefé-Amazonas” a research aimed at studies on the formation of words. O objective was to understand through morphological studies the anthroponymy of common people in the municipality of Tefé. The bibliographic research was used as a methodology in an approach qualitative in random nominal lists, content analysis. It was used as techniques of analysis of descriptive research through the selection of names of common people in the city of Tefé and later the description and analysis of the characteristics of the morphological formation of the anthroponymies thus providing a new view of the lexical elements existing in the words. The work is theoretically evidenced based on the works of Basílo (1987 and 2004), Macambira (1998), Saussure (2006), Laroca (2001), Kehdi (1992), Camara Junior (1975, 1986 and 1997), Martinet (1974), among others. Research has shown that there are some elements fundamental in the formation of words such as: the root, the radical, the affixes (prefixes and suffixes), the endings, among others. Thus, analyzing a corpus in lists of proper names there were many types of anthroponymies with simple formation and composed by juxtaposition and agglutination, neological characteristics by pronunciation by sound extension and neologism by foreignism, names composed by suffix derivation and names modified by incorporation of the ending, by truncations or truncation and names with the augmentative and diminutive degree, thus enabling a new look at the proper names of common people in the city of Tefé. However, we realize that there is no grammatical rule or norm for the Portuguese language to guide the elaboration of people's names, so people end up registering the names of their children according to their personal interests, with the same name can be written in various ways generating doubts for the reader and writer about the pronunciation and correct writing.
