Resumo

The main objectives of this monographic work are: to analyze love as a disease in the poetry of the respective classical poets: Catullus, Propertius, Tibulus and Ovid; to present ways to fight the disease of love, through philosophical precepts, among them, the didactic poem Remedia Amoris, by the poet Ovid. The poets will be the main object of the first moment of the research, which aims to analyze elements of love as an evil, in the love cycle of each one, represented in their elegies. In the second moment, we present ways to combat the disease of love through the philosophy of self-care, epicurean instructions and the poem Remedia Amoris. As it is a poem that speaks specifically of remedies for love, it will be valid to extract lessons for a well-being of the body and mind, since the agony of love succumbs in a Morbus. The analysis of the poem thus complements the second part of the research.
