Da invisibilidade ao protagonismo feminino: a inserção das mulheres na história política de Autazes

Abstract

This article analyzes from the perspective of gender relations the insertion of women in the politics of the municipality of Autazes, highlighting the female protagonism in the local Legislative Power. Historically, Auzazen's politics has been marked by male predominance, which has limited women's participation in decision-making spaces. This scenario began to change with the election of councilwomen who began to occupy the City Council continuously, starting in the 90s. Women such as Maria Oneide Cerdeira de Paula elected first councilor of Autazes, then came Bertulina S. Oliveira, Arlene C. Figueiredo, Cíntia Maria da Silva Tupinambá, Graça Izoney Tomé, Francinete Onete da Silva, Maria Suely Alexandre de Lira Lopes, Hellen Mara Barroso da Silva, Daniela Laborda da Silva Sampaio and Diana da Silva Guedes, break the gender silence in politics in Autazes. The presence of these women represented an advance in female representation, political participation and the presence and voice of women in spaces of power in local politics. Understanding the insertion of councilwomen in local political history allows us to broaden the view of the democratic process in the municipality. In addition, it makes it possible to value trajectories that have historically been silenced or treated in a secondary way in official records.
