Resumo
The research reported the experience of applying an active methodology in the teaching and
learning process with students in the Cost Accounting discipline at the Universidade do
Estado do Amazonas (UEA). To achieve this, an active methodology was developed, based on
Gamification, called “Hunger Costs”, which was conceived as a Team Duel type game,
designed to work on content contained in the syllabus of that discipline. The population of
this study is made up of 34 students. After applying the game in the classroom, data was
collected from the students, by filling out a questionnaire with a Likert scale, via Google
Forms, with the aim of reporting the profile of the students investigated and their perception
of the application of the dynamics. The data was processed through qualitative and quantitative analysis, in addition to comparisons between classes. Data analysis suggests that
students are interested in continuing to use active methodologies, not only in the Cost
Accounting discipline, but also in other disciplines of the Accounting course, revealing that
the proposed dynamics had a positive impact on the perception of students in relation to the
teaching and learning process.
