Resumo
The constant search for technological improvement regarding the use of various
types of composite materials to obtain various products on the market means that there
are new methods and standards with regard to the study of alternative and sustainable
sources for the composition of new materials. Currently, the concept of sustainability
is about the point of view of environment protection, and this influences the issue of
studying new composites to obtain materials that do not harm nature, a fact that
already exists. The global trend is for human beings to start consuming many products
that are discarded in a period and there’s no policy aimed at their reuse, in addition to
serving as a benefit to society, in view of the inclusion in the job market of people who
make a living from recycling materials. Another issue to be raised and it is very
pertinent is related to the study of natural fibers that can replace artificial or synthetic
fibers, those which are under study so that new composite materials can be
manufactured on a large scale. This work aims at comparative study of the mechanical
properties of two composites, made with epoxy resin, each one with natural fiber
reinforcement, sisal and jute, treated with Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH), for the purpose
to obtain better resistance for these materials, giving to them the due importance
materials employment, obtaining the mechanical properties value averages for
comparison between these materials.
