Resumo

Given the scenario that has been in place since the early days of 2020 until today, where the world has been ravaged by the pandemic of COVID-19, causing the paralysis of daily activities, including schools. It became necessary to discuss the purposes of education mediated by remote learning, the alternatives adopted to continue with school work. This paper aims to understand the effectiveness of remote teaching and the methodological strategies adopted by Geography High School Teachers in state schools in the city of Parintins - AM. in the period of the Covid 19 pandemic. We sought to know what methodological practices were adopted by schools and teachers and also the difficulties that students and teachers faced during this period, emphasizing the importance of geographic education in this model of teaching. To this end, the discussion proposed here was based on bibliographic reading and on the personal experiences of a graduate student who experienced remote teaching during the pandemic period. The results show that the difficulties faced by teachers regarding geography classes through remote teaching were many and worsened due to the quality of the internet service offered in the city, the lack of a physical space in the homes that could offer study conditions, access to electronic equipment needed for the classes, the long working hours to prepare the classes and the lack of motivation of the students.
