Resumo
This research is a study into the thermal comfort of residents living in the
residents in the vicinity of the environmental conservation area located in the dense urban
urban fabric of Manaus, the Sumaúma State Park. The research followed a
qualitative-quantitative approach, in which 10 questions were prepared for interviews
with the residents of 30 homes. The study sought to analyze thermal comfort by
residents' perceptions, as well as to identify the level of thermal
thermal comfort and its consequences on their daily lives.
At the same time as the interviews, data was collected using the MTH-1300 thermo-hygrometer on air temperature and relative humidity, used to represent the Effective Temperature proposed by Funari (2006): 𝑇𝐻𝐼= 𝑇𝑠-(0.55-0.0055 𝑥𝑈𝑅) 𝑥 (𝑇𝑠-14.5) and then classifying them according to the
criteria proposed by Garcia (1995), as it shows ranges of thermal comfort that are more
consistent with the Brazilian reality. The study found that despite the park's mitigating action of the park on the temperature in its surroundings, especially for the residents located on the edge of the park boundary, they still feel thermal discomfort caused by the heat, its impacts on the daily lives of residents residents' daily lives are linked to increased agitation, increased stress, rapid tiredness and even an increase in the frequency of headaches that the study of thermal comfort goes beyond actions aimed at mitigating air temperature. temperature, it is also about public health.
