Resumo
To understand the history of the Solimões region, as well as Brazil itself, we must have
in mind the intertwining of the State and Church in the formation of places, towns and cities.
From this assumption, analyzing the intricacies of this union allows us to
of the life of these present societies. The parish archives are in this sense
as a form of registration of those societies that are extremely Catholic,
especially in the 19th and 20th centuries, where the church actively participates in its
lives. As a theoretical-methodological reference of this research, we rely on authors who
discuss the history of the church in Latin America and, more specifically, in the region
covers the Amazon today. We study the order of the Spiritans and their impact on Tefe,
methods of analysis and treatment of parish sources. These files were located in the
secretariat of the Cathedral of Santa Tereza and were properly organized and digitized. The
presentations include baptism and marriage books,
sponsorship relationships, names of families and priests involved in the ceremony. The total
found 38 books, 34 of which were baptisms and four books of marriage. The locals
recorded part of the area that Tefé had in the 19th and early 20th centuries, which
corroborates the large area that once belonged to Tefé, as well as giving us the
existence of more books of the time (today) in the neighboring municipalities, showing the
need for research such as this to be carried out in the surroundings and therefore in the
neighboring cities.

Para compreender a história da região do Solimões, assim como o próprio Brasil, devemos ter
em mente o entrelaçamento do Estado e Igreja na formação das lugares, vilas e cidades.
Partindo desse pressuposto, analisar os meandros dessa união nos permite contextualizar parte
da vida dessas sociedades presentes. Os arquivos paroquiais encontram-se, nesse sentido
como uma forma de registro dessas sociedades que são extremamente católicas,
principalmente nos séculos XIX e XX, onde a igreja participa, portanto, ativamente em suas
vidas. Como referencial teórico-metodológico dessa pesquisa, nos apoiamos em autores que
discutem a história da igreja na América Latina e, mais especificamente, na região que
abrange hoje à Amazônia. Estudamos a ordem dos espiritanos e seu impacto em Tefé,
métodos de análise e tratamento das fontes paroquiais. Esses arquivos foram localizados na
secretaria da Catedral de Santa Tereza e foram devidamente organizados e digitalizados. Os
assentamentos presentes lá incluem livros de batismo e casamento, evidenciando registros de
relações de apadrinhamento, nomes de famílias e padres envolvidos na cerimônia. O total
encontrado foram 38 livros, sendo 34 de batismo e quatro livros de casamento. Os locais
registrados abrangem parte da área que Tefé possuíra no século XIX e início do XX, o que
corrobora a grande área pertencente outrora a Tefé, assim como também nos dá a hipótese da
existência de mais livros da época (hoje) nos municípios vizinhos, mostrando então a
necessidade de pesquisas como essa serem realizadas pelas redondezas e, portanto, nas
cidades vizinhas.
