Resumo

To analyze obstetric care during the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of nurses. Method: Descriptive qualitative research with a phenomenological approach, carried out at the Dr. Moura Tapajóz maternity hospital, with a study population consisting of 5 professional nurses with at least six months of professional experience in maternity hospitals before the pandemic and who worked for at least three consecutive months from March to December 2020. Results: Three units of meaning were identified, according to the characteristics most observed in the interviews, with only the categories and subcategories that recurred from a total of 4 (four) and 5 (five) in the interviews being analyzed and discussed: 1) Difficulties in providing care and subcategories reassignment/lack of staff and lack of knowledge about the disease; 2) Emotions and subcategory multiple losses; and 3) Strategies used in care and subcategory contact protection. Conclusion: The results analyzed identified that there were a large number of challenges present during the provision of assistance, which prevented the participants from being able to specifically describe how they evaluated the assistance during the interviews, noting that due to the changes caused by the context experienced, there were many feelings and reactions that made it difficult to find solutions and strategies during the assistance provided to pregnant women.
