A importância do uso adequado de equipamentos de proteção individual no combate a incêndios florestais pelo corpo de bombeiros militar do Amazonas

Abstract

The study analyzed the adequacy, adherence, and impacts of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in forest-fire combat operations within the Amazonas Military Fire Department (CBMAM). The research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the PPE used by military firefighters, considering ergonomic, institutional, and environmental aspects. A qualitative and quantitative approach was adopted, using method triangulation that combined questionnaires applied to firefighters, interviews with specialists, and document analysis. The results indicated that, although the importance of PPE is widely recognized, most respondents consider it partially suitable for the Amazon climate, citing thermal discomfort and material rigidity as factors that hinder continuous use. Weaknesses were also observed in training standardization and institutional equipment management. As an applied product, a Draft Normative Instruction for the Use of PPE in CBMAM was proposed, serving as a technical tool to standardize procedures, strengthen occupational safety, and value the firefighters’ work within the Amazonian context.
