Aspectos geológicos e geomorfológicos da cidade de Parintins ao Mocambo

Abstract

This article seeks to analyze the geological and geomorphological aspects in the stretch between the city of Parintins and the locality of Mocambo, highlighting the transformation of the terrain and the natural processes that shape this Amazonian landscape. The research is based on field observations and a literature review, with the aim of understanding the interaction between floodplains and terra firme (upland), as well as the sedimentation and erosion mechanisms characteristic of the region. In this space, the Amazon River plays a central role, not only in the deposition of recent sediments but also in the constant reshaping of banks and islands, evidencing the typical dynamics of large fluvial systems. The journey to Mocambo reveals the presence of Quaternary deposits, river terraces, and areas subject to periodic flooding, which reflect distinct phases in the local geological and geomorphological history. The analysis also shows how the variation between plateaus and floodplains guides human occupation and land organization. By highlighting the specificities of this geographic segment, the research contributes to broadening understanding of the processes that structure the Amazonian relief and offers a basis for future reflections on the relationship between natural dynamics and land use.
