Assessment of pain reduction using cold and hot compresses before and after intervention in patients suffering from botropic poisoning. Methodology: This is an open randomized clinical trial that is part of a macro project, carried out from a group composed of three groups: A, B and C and developed at FMT-HVD. Results: 45 patients were present, the majority (39%) male from the interior (67%), predominantly rural workers (51%) with an average age of 38 years, of which the foot (69%) was the most affected location, and few carried out actions such as the use of local products (33%) and tourniquets (18%). 14 participants received a hot compress, another 15 received a cold compress and 16 received no intervention. Conclusion: Although this is a research with a small sample, we can already observe that the use of the two compresses in relieving the pain of patients who suffered accidents caused by this snake were effective. In this study, thermotherapy brought results that stood out from cryotherapy, and also brought the importance of clinical research given a topic with little evidence, which makes it significant for the northern region, where these accidents occur most.
