Resumo
Analyzing the Amazonian culture in an attempt to find the dominant that mobilizes it, one comes across a real universe populated by beings, signs, images, facts, attitudes that may indicate multiple possibilities of analysis and interpretation. This research proposes to analyze the verbal images and symbolic representations in three poems from the book Filhos da Várzea, by Aníbal Beça. To perform this analysis is used as theoretical basis
work of Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914), American semiotics, because we consider that it can contribute to a broader analysis of the concrete and abstract material, besides other
other works of relevance to the research. It is observed that the author performs by means of signs
and symbols the representation of Amazonian culture, putting in evidence the daily life of the
of the caboclo, the space and the local imaginary.
