A eficiência dos gastos públicos com criminalidade: uma aplicação da análise envoltória de dados para os estados da região norte do Brasil entre os anos de 2008 a 2019

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efficiency in the allocation of resources in the area of public security in combating the crime of homicide between the years 2008 to 2019 for the states of the North Region. For this purpose, the non-parametric DEA technique was used, with product orientation and variable returns to scale. The main results pointed to an efficiency, on average, for the work time interval of 78%, classified as high efficiency; in addition, there was a consistent growth in the number of efficient states. In addition, it was found that not necessarily a greater number of investments results in more efficient states in the area of public security.
