The search for maximum efficiency and the time that companies have to place
their new products on the market are getting smaller and smaller, factors that require
a detailed study for the implementation of the project and ergonomics are often
disregarded. The objective of this work is to carry out an ergonomic analysis in the
component assembly process in a company in the two-wheel segment of the Manaus
Industrial Pole (PIM). The method adopted for the execution of the research was the
Case Study, as it is a more in-depth survey of ergonomics in the workstation of the
component press. During the research, the current situation of how the operator
performs the component pressing and valve fitting process was analyzed, identifying
that the rim grip is not safe due to the inadequacy of the tool used by the operator
whose fitting force is 1, 3 Kg.F (ideal <0.6 Kg. F), with consequences of WMSD and
Tenosynovitis. It was noted that there is insufficient support to perform the activities
and there is excessive effort on the wrist, flexor muscle and adductor pollicis. The
ergonomic analysis showed through the BRIEF and OCRA Checklist methods that the
process is a high risk to the employee, in areas prone to WRMD in the regions of the
wrist, hands and elbows. The solution adopted for this problem was automation,
causing the valve fitting process to be carried out by a pneumatic cylinder during the
pressing of the bearing. With this implementation, much of the employee's effort in
carrying out the activity was reduced, especially in the wrist and hand region. With the
improvement of the process, it was possible to relieve the musculoskeletal tension of
the employee. With the automatic process, there was a reduction in the operator's
fatigue factor, thus converging in a favorable result in OCRA, which presented a low
index in the new evaluation.
