Resumo
The research aims to analyze the novel Canumã: A Travessia, originally published in 2019. The work is contemporary indigenous literature produced by the Amazonian writer and teacher Ytanajé Coelho Cardoso. In his book, Ytanajé tells the story of a Munduruku family that lives in the Kwatá village in Amazonas, and moves to the city of Nova Olinda do Norte - AM, and later to Manaus in search of providing a good education for their children. The narrative emphasizes the role of the elders as guardians of memory, the disappearance of the Munduruku language and the transformations that occurred with elements introduced into the village by the pariwát (the white man). The analysis aims to understand how the author represents the figure of the indigenous in his work through his experience in the village and in the academic environment with the intention of providing contributions on the approach to Indigenous History in History Teaching. The aim of this research is to contribute to a new perception of Indigenous History and Culture in the academic, educational and social spheres to combat the imaginaries attributed to indigenous peoples both in literature and in society, redefining the history of native peoples in the historical and cultural process of the country, aiming to highlight indigenous representation in a space that, until recently, had been denied to them.
