Política de Parintins nos anos de 1996 a 1998: o impeachment Carbrás

Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the impeachment of Mayor Carlos Alberto Barros (Carlinhos da Carbrás) in the city of Parintins, between 1996 and 1998, with the objective of understanding the facts that led to his withdrawal from power and the religious issue that appears within what happened. The appreciation of the object took place through research in newspapers, which sought to find the accusations that it suffered during the process, this information was found within the editorial and reports exposed by the newspapers Novo Horizonte and Jornal do Commercio. What we obtained with the analysis was the creation of two memories, one of a mayor who is drawn by the newspaper in a totalitarian and selfish way and the other, the father of the people, the one whose main role was to work for the poorest. The information studied brings to light two important points, the judicial issue, the accusations made by the city council for the creation of the CPI's and the religious issue involving Catholics and Evangelicals that occurs within this political dispute.
