Estudo dos resíduos domiciliares no Bairro Paschoal Allágio, na Cidade de Parintins/AM

Abstract

One of the great challenges faced in the XXI century is the unrestrained generation of Urban Solid Waste, which is related to several factors, including: population growth, the intense process of urbanization and among others. The present study aims to understand the management of household solid waste in the Paschoal Allágio neighborhood, located in the city of Parintins/AM. The methodology was developed with an exploratory, descriptive and observational qualitative-quantitative approach. The application of 80 (eighty) questionnaires in a sample of 10% of the population of the neighborhood was used as a data collection instrument. Direct observation was also carried out at the site of the field visit. The per capita generation of domestic waste in the city of Parintins/AM is 1.56 kg inhab./day, a high average compared to the North region and the country, which is 0.97 and 0.99 kg inhab. /day, respectively. Through the data collected, it can be seen that there is inefficiency in the management of solid waste in general and, specifically, of those generated in households. In this sense, it is understood that the adoption of more rational measures, integrated actions that meet what is set by the National Solid Waste Policy - PNRS, is a fundamental step towards more efficient management.
