Resumo
This work results in the investigation of the remains of Latin in the Diocese of Parintins. The objectives are: to search for documents written in Latin in the Diocese of Parintins, to investigate the presence of Latin in songs and episcopal motto, and to have a more in-depth knowledge about the presence of Latin in the view of the clergy, using interviews. methodology, descriptive and documentary research. As it is a theological theme, the references presented here are of religious knowledge and use as a data collection resource interviews recorded with the hierarchy of the Catholic Church: bishop, priests, deacon and layman, in addition to telling oral history. It is known that Latin is one of the bases of the Catholic Church along with Greek and Hebrew. It is through it that there is communication between the churches of the world, which due to changes in the Second Vatican Council, gave way to the use of the vernacular language. It should be noted that Latin was not completely abolished from the Catholic liturgy, although it underwent a reform in 1969. And for this permanence to be achieved, the CVII published Sacrosanctum Concilium, which in short calls for the conservation of the vernacular language in prayers and songs, reviving the cult of the divine nature. The focus for this investigation is the Diocese of Parintins, searching for the remains of the mother tongue, which theologically understands that it is possible to enter the heritage, to have security in the doctrine, promoting what is one.
