Resumo
This document aims to present the development of a low-cost device prototype based
on the Internet of Things (IoT) for fire detection and prevention in residential environments.
This system has the ability to monitor and collect in real time, the variables of the residential
environment, through temperature sensors and flammable gases, and send them via WiFi to the
web interface. In addition, the device must act to automatically turn off the gas regulating valve,
if deviation is detected in the monitored parameters. Initially, the theoretical foundation of the
technologies used in this project will be presented: the concept of the IoT ecosystem, phases of
the growth curve graph of a fire, a study on sensors and the ESP8266 module. In addition, the
I2C, HTTP and UDP communication protocols and the GET and POST methods used for
communication between the microcontroller and the web application are explored.
Subsequently, the steps and materials necessary for the construction of the IoT prototype are
presented, followed by a detailed description of the experiment, tools used and implementation
of what was mentioned above. As a result of the experiences described throughout the project,
the values of the parameters monitored by the sensors will be displayed in the web interface.
Finally, the data obtained showed that the developed device meets the proposed requirements
by detecting the variables of temperature, flammable gases and smoke in the residential
environment.
