Resumo
In the Upper Amazon, extreme western Amazonas, it is located the Triple Amazon
Border, formed by the cities of Tabatinga/Brazil, Santa Rosa/Peru and
Leticia/Colombia. This border area is identified as one of the entry points of
narcotics produced in Colombia and Peru in the Brazilian territory. Given this context,
this research analised the characteristics of drug trafficking in that zone, the existing
structure of police forces operating there, as well as the projects of the various tiers of
government relating to Public Safety in the region. Thus, it obtained an overview of the
brazilian state capacity to prevent and suppress that form of criminality and thus ensure public
order and social peace in that strategic area of Brazil.
