According to Ferreira (2017), the practice of fights in physical
education classes can bring numerous benefits to students, including motor,
cognitive, and social affective development. And as stated by Darido (2005), it is a
challenge to present this content due to the school's resistance, as it requires a
certain space, specific costumes and untrue association with violence. Thus, it
becomes interesting to link it with the transversal theme of the environment, using the
manufacture of alternative materials, allowing, in addition to the practice of the
modality, other pertinent discussions such as the theme. Objective: The students
aim to report the experiences of living in the realization of an intervention in the
school, contextualized from the transversal theme of the environment. Methodology:
This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, about the application of the
intervention project in a public school, located in the south zone, in the Cachoeirinha
neighborhood, about environmental awareness from the experiences with the sports
modality fencing for students of the 3rd year of elementary school I. The choice of the
school was made by convenience or accessibility, and prior communication was
established between the students and the school manager to schedule a better day
for a survey on the characteristics, demands and needs of the class/school with the
pedagogical team. After this survey, a day, time and class was determined for the
execution of the intervention project, which was composed of four moments: survey
of previous knowledge and contextualization of the theme; making fencing
implements with alternative materials; fencing positioning and movement activities;
and conversation circles. Final considerations: It was noticed that the students
acquired several knowledge and experiences through the practice of fencing, such as
the identification of the origin, the fundamentals used during the fight, the rules,
among other knowledge, whether of motor, cognitive, or affective aspect. In addition
to knowing the importance of reusing and making alternative materials, aiming at the
preservation of the Environment. This experience of intervention in the school was of
paramount importance, as it provided us with professional and personal development
as physical education students, in addition to providing a real perspective on our area
of expertise after training
