Histórias e memórias de lutas por moradia em Parintins (2017 – 2022)

Abstract

This article addresses the history of urban land occupations in Parintins through the digital press and oral narratives in the period between 2017 and 2022, which corresponds to the last three occupations that took place in the municipality. Parintins has a long history of land occupations, which since the 90s began to be taken over by families who needed permanent housing. Currently, the city is reviving this context, in new areas (Ocupação do Castanhal, Pascoal Alágio and Residencial Parintins). To carry out this work we used archives such as newspapers, Oral History methodology and bibliographical research. For theoretical discussion, I used authors such as Souza (2017) Helene (2019) and Capelato (1988) who were essential for the development of the research. From the analyses, we realized that the press' view silences the subjects who fight for the right to housing in the city, and only highlights the version of the land owners, further contributing to the erasure of these subjects.
