Resumo
This course conclusion article discusses the culture and education of female nobility in Homer and Virgil, highlighting the influences of Homer (Odyssey) on Virgil's work (Aeneid), thus showing the divergences and similarities between selected female characters from both epics. There are many differences between Homeric and Virgilian women. Homer's women actually belong to the Greek nobility; Virgílio's women are foreigners, in the case of Dido, and indigenous in the case of Camila, Dido and Amata. However, they all follow an exemplary way of life. Furthermore, we can see that poets converge and diverge in their conceptions of culture and education, even though Homer is the main archetype, Virgil goes beyond the border and is inspired by values that are typical of Roman women.
