Geografia e educação ambiental: a importância da abordagem ambiental para a formação de cidadãos conscientes com o meio ambiente

Abstract

This article analyzes the importance of environmental education in the training of teachers in the Geography degree program. The methodology used was both quantitative and qualitative research conducted through structured questionnaires and interviews. The research involved 10 students from the 6th semester of the Geography course at CESP, covering both morning and evening shifts, as well as the participation of course teachers. The questionnaire was designed to assess participants' perceptions of environmental education and its role in building ecological and civic awareness. The results indicate that the majority of students and teachers consider environmental education an essential component of the curriculum, promoting a deep understanding of environmental challenges and encouraging ethical and responsible attitudes towards sustainability. The analysis of the obtained data reinforces the importance of systematically integrating environmental education into Geography teaching, fostering the development of a critical and ecologically conscious citizenship.
