Resumo
The study aimed to demonstrate the importance of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and standardizing operational procedures as a means of preventing accidents, by describing the main occupational risks, analyzing their contributing factors, and assessing firefighters’ adherence to safety standards, in order to support the development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) suitable for CBMAM. The research is justified by the relevance of the activity, which involves risks of falls, chainsaw accidents, excessive noise, and ergonomic strain, compromising the safety and health of personnel. The adopted methodology combined documentary analysis of operational records from 2020 to 2024 with the application of a questionnaire to 30 firefighters, of whom 22 responded completely. The instrument addressed risks, accidents, occupational health, use of PPE, and perception of standardization. The results indicated that most participants recognize tree-cutting as a high-risk activity, reporting accidents and health problems, as well as weaknesses in the use of protective equipment and in the uniformity of technical training. It was also observed that there is either a lack of awareness or absence of a specific SOP. It is concluded that this research provides input for the development of an institutional protocol
capable of ligning practices, reducing risks, and strengthening the safety of military
firefighters.
