Obras de Edgar Allan Poe e Alvares de Azevedo: elementos de convergência entre o gótico norte-americano e o ultrarromantismo brasileiro

Abstract

During the 19th century, two very similar artistic movements were on the on the rise. In the United States of America, the North American Gothic, while in Brazil poems and short stories of ultra-romanticism also had strong names within national literature. The aim of this study is to seek within such currents elements of convergence and, this way, select two authors of renown: Edgar Allan Poe, representative of the North American and Álvares de Azevedo, of Brazilian ultra-romanticism, for a comparative analysis of analysis of their works.
