Resumo
Fragmentation has been a much-used resource in contemporary fiction and
different ways of narrating through the observation of the image have gained a lot of space
in the works. This paper aims to analyze the narrative construction in the novel Eles eram muitos
horses (2001), by Luiz Ruffato, from an analytical reading that highlights the main
resources used by the author, highlighting its hybrid and fragmentary character. To do so,
we carry out a theoretical path that discusses contemporary Brazilian literature, its main
Brazilian contemporary literature, its main aspects, and the strategies of narration in this moment of literary production.
Ruffato portrays in his fiction the production of a contemporary Brazilian literature that brings together
