Understanding humanization and spirituality/religiosity (E/R) in care
to women experiencing the pregnancy-puerperal cycle assisted in a Basic Unit of
Health. Methods: This is a descriptive and exploratory study, with a
quantitative-qualitative. The population of pregnant and puerperal women assisted in
a Basic Health Unit and the selection of participants was carried out in a non-random way
by convenience sampling. For data collection, an elaborate protocol was used.
for this research, in addition to the Spirituality and Ethics Assessment Scale for
application in health care. Results: 12 women participated in this study, being
11 pregnant women and 1 postpartum woman. The score of the interviewees suggested a high score for
spirituality. The analysis of the narratives clarified that the E/R are used as a connection with
the Sacred by the interviewees. Just as some indicate having received assistance
humanized by the professionals who assisted them during the pregnancy-puerperal cycle.
Conclusion: Most of the interviewees refer to being affiliated with a religious belief, but
also allege that their spiritual/religious practices were never questioned during their
queries. Therefore, it is of paramount importance for professionals to deepen their understanding of the
possible approaches to work spirituality/religiosity and humanization in their
calls and thus offer qualified assistance to their patients
