Resumo

Climate change and river seasonality in the Amazon tend to contribute to the flooding of various regions, making it necessary to use small boats to navigate flooded streets for socially relevant activities, including transporting people, commerce, fishing, education, and emergency assistance. However, the use of these types of boats in flooded communities presents operational challenges that can cause accidents, making further research in this area necessary. This work presents some of the main operational risks of small boats used in the streets of flooded communities in the Amazon region, considering the city of Anamã, in the state of Amazonas, as a case study. Also, as an illustrative case study, the hydrodynamic analysis of a regional boat of this type using computational fluid dynamics is presented. A literature review was conducted to discuss the operational challenges, while the hydrodynamic analysis was performed using ANSYS Fluent software. The main results suggest that there are still challenges related to the prevention of accidents such as collisions and flooding of boats. It is also suggested that the waves generated by these structures may have some effect on stilt houses, floating houses, and other domestic structures, imposing difficulties on the daily lives of residents and the safety of other vessels. The proposed computational fluid dynamics analysis can serve as an example for analyzing this type of effect in future work.
