A representação urbana da cidade de Parintins na década de 1990, a partir da Baixa da Xanda

Abstract

This article analyzes the urban representations of the city of Parintins in the 1990s from the urban perimeter that comprises Baixa da Xanda in the São José Operário neighborhood, in order to reread aspects of the history of urbanization in the municipality of Parintins; also understand the role of the Boi Bumbá Garantido in this process, with this identifying the way in which the city starts to structure and organize itself to meet the dimensions of the Parintins Folklore Festival, and finally find the relationship that the Parintins Festival has with Carnival large urban centers such as Rio de Janeiro. In this way, it was necessary to use the periodicals as a historical source, in this case using the newspaper O Médio Amazonas, Jornal do Brasil, Jornal do Commercio, Tribuna, Bulletin of the Catarinense Commission of Folklore, thus having the possibility to verify and know, among others, the transformations of cultural practices and in terms of urban structure of that period.
