Resumo
The mystical-religious relationship between human beings and other animals has been
recorded since ancient times. This can be evidenced in the cave paintings, in which
animals are represented, revealing the mystical character of hunting scenes and other
human activities and, in a country like Brazil, which is characterized by its diversity
biological and cultural, it is essential that conservation policies are in tune with the
cultural aspects, since studies dealing with this topic are scarce (Leo Neto, 2008).
With the intention of measuring the importance of the use of biodiversity relating it to
mystical-religious interaction that human beings have with animals, the objective was to
document the most used species, analyze aspects of use, and characterize the context
socio-cultural in which the mystical-religious use of faunal resources takes place in the
surveyed region, as well as to assess its implications for conservation.
