Sistemas de gestão ambiental a serem aplicadas na administração da Universidade do Estado do Amazonas

Abstract

Due to the major environmental problems currently occurring in the world, organizations of any origin (public or private) are increasingly under pressure from society, the government itself and supervisory bodies for a more sustainable management that contributes to environmental preservation. And the Environmental Management Systems came to insert a set of rules and requirements to be met precisely for the regularization of the organization an effective and standard environmental management to other companies, both small and large. And the guidance by this ISO14001, is increasingly sought by organizations for proper certification. Which as a consequence brings benefits such as economic return, new markets and customers conquest, and mainly, benefits for the environment. As a source of information, this paper demonstrates the advantages of structuring the Environmental Management System at the University of Amazonas State, environmental management concepts and their sustainable development, without an effective analysis of the University's general environmental management, but showing the advantages both senior management and faculty, students and their collaborators to an ISO14001 certification to applied management.
