Resumo

This article is entitled “Semiotic and Topophilic Studies in the Work O Sermo da Selva, by Max Carphentier ”, aimed at a semiotic and topophilic analysis in the work O Sermão da Selva. The theoretical framework used to light of TUAN (2012; 2005), CHARAUDEAU and MAINGUENAU (2008) and FIORIN (2002). The goal was the analysis of literary discourse in Max Carphentier's The Sermon on the Jungle, in a research that described the social and environmental concerns of the human being, in this case, the man Amazonian, through descriptions of the topophilic elements present in the actions and in the Amazonian space. THE work was justified due to this new look in the text through Discourse Analysis, which deepens the debate about the importance of these social and environmental concerns of the human being. The methodology used for this respect was the study mediated by a literature search and qualitative approach. Thus, it states Lakatos and Marconi (2014, p. 43-44), that the bibliographic research “is a survey of the entire bibliography already published, in the form of books, magazines, single publications and the press ”, was written by inductive method, which presented metaphorical language and constituted itself in proposing a differentiated work in this article. Through the study of the generative path of meaning in semiotics and topophilia, it was observed the importance to verify and understand the concepts that are not always addressed or perceived in a literary text, if it is treated in isolation. This study was involved, through an analytical and reflective reading, and demonstrated the various social, environmental, personal and cultural oppositions that appeared in the texts of the work in study
