Evaluate the training process of medical students to work in the
Primary Health Care at a public university in Amazonas. Method: Study
documentary, descriptive and exploratory, with a quantitative approach, carried out at the University
of the State of Amazonas (UEA), in the Unit of the Higher School of Health Sciences (ESA).
The documents selected for the research included the Pedagogical Project of the
Medicine (PPC) and the Teaching Plans of compulsory undergraduate subjects. The data
were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics. Results: 6 were listed
doctor's skills according to the National Primary Care Policy (PNAB), and 15
competences listed in the PPC regarding the training profile of graduates in medicine.
Only one competence of the PNAB was not contemplated in the PPC and in the course disciplines.
In the Teaching Plans it was possible to verify that, of the 55 compulsory disciplines of the course, 23
address APS contents. Theoretical activities are the most discussed during
the entire undergraduate course, and that 10.3% of the total workload of the medical course is dedicated to
APS, 22% of the time during periods in which there are still activities of a nature
theoretical. Conclusion: This study points to the possibility of advances in the process of
physician training, proposing the inclusion of students in PHC from the earliest periods,
where the scenario for a humanist, critical and reflective formation is, without a doubt, the APS
