História e cultura: Academia de Letras de Itacoatiara (2009-2010)

Abstract

This work aims to present the history of the Itacoatiarense Academy of Letters during its early years, through the oral narratives of its three founding members. The history of the Academy of Letters is reflected in the context of the city of Itacoatiara, where the participation of men and women developed the idea of ​​an academy and shared the literary knowledge produced by intellectuals from the city. This context is analyzed, the first years of its founding as a non-profit institution, but with active participation in local culture and the production of historical and literary knowledge. Among these early founders are Sylvia Aranha, Esther Araújo, Francisco Gomes, Thyrso Munhoz, and others. Their active participation is fundamental to understanding the vanguard of these early years. Using oral history methodology, we seek to present the accounts of these collaborators who recount the trajectory and organization of the Academy of Letters, realizing that this context intertwines with the history of the municipality of Itacoatiara.
