| dc.description.abstract | In the Amazon region, various types of vessels may be exposed to operational risks due to interaction with waves caused by occasional storms or the movement of other vessels, making the study of their behavior under these conditions relevant. This work aims to demonstrate the applicability of the Ansys Aqwa software to evaluate the movements of a small regional vessel under irregular wave conditions. As a case study, a cabin-type vessel, commonly used in the region for socially relevant activities, including passenger transport, school transport, and emergency response, is considered. The Hydrodynamic Diffraction and Hydrodynamic Response modules were used to evaluate the vessel’s movements in the frequency and time domains, respectively. The wave state was represented with period and significant height adaptations in the JONSWAP wave spectrum. The results demonstrated the applicability of the software to evaluate displacements, velocities, and accelerations in the six degrees of freedom and in the frequency and time domains. The need to measure the surface elevations of rivers in the Amazon region to obtain more accurate estimates is highlighted. It is expected that this work will serve as a basis for evaluating the dynamics of other regional vessels. | |
