Resumo
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are diseases caused by microorganisms, whose main
transmission route is characterized by unprotected sexual contact, whether oral, anal or vaginal.
According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), STI's have gradually increased
around the world since the 1990s, and are currently considered as one of the biggest problems
affecting public health in the country. In adolescence, the non-acceptance of preventive
measures for STIs, correlated to the early start of sexual life and the lack of information in the
school environment and in their own homes, make this public more vulnerable to these
infections. Based on these issues, it is necessary to propose alternative methodologies to
enhance the teaching of STIs such as HIV/AIDS and Syphilis in schools and, consequently, for
the community. The objective of this research is to develop and produce comic books to
facilitate the learning about Sexually Transmitted Infections - STI's of high school students.
Based on the approach, this research is characterized as qualitative. The activities will be carried
out with second-year high school students, remotely, using the Google Meet platform. The
application process is divided into seven remote meetings through the Google Meet platform,
namely: explanation of the project and application of the survey through the Google Forms tool,
theoretical classes on the content of IST's, workshop on preparation techniques comic books
(comics) and production of comics, questionnaire application and digital assessment using the
Google Forms tool. Content Analysis will be used to analyze the production of comics and the
responses in the evaluations. The results revealed that the use of Comics - HQs proved to be
unsatisfactory with second year high school students to deal with Sexually Transmitted
Infections. The possible issues for such a result obtained were described: 1. As the students'
lack of skills in relation to design and the difficulties they impose on it; 2. The caveat on
individuality and on ways of learning that are unique to each individual and class; 3. The interest
and motivation to learn only about the subject of STIs and not about the comics, showing that
the theme alone is enough to hold the students' attention; 4. The issues that permeate remote
teaching. Finally, we highlight the need for new research that expands the discussions on the
theme of the use of comics and, mainly, works that discuss negative aspects and lack of
correspondence between the students and the production of comics. As well as works that value
the promotion of health, knowledge about STIs and the autonomy of man in front of his own
health.
