Resumo
This article aims to present a qualitative research that aimed to analyze the teaching
process of financial mathematics problem solving based on Pólya method. Based on
this premise, the field research was carried out with students from a 1st year high
school class at the Nazira Litafe Moriz State School located in the county of Tefé,
Amazonas. Financial mathematics problems aimed at the daily lives of students were
applied in order to bring the student's reality closer to their school routine, as well as
the use of Pólya to solve mathematical problems without the use of a specific formula
for each problem. From the results of the students' productions on the problems
proposed in the classroom, it was possible to understand which stages of George
Polya's problem solving were effective for teaching-learning. This article was not
limited to the search for definitive answers, but to seek to understand the ways in which learning processes take place, thus having in mind as a reference the
experiences of the students themselves when faced with solving mathematical
problems.
