Conhecimento dos usuários sobre diabetes, lesões e cuidados do pé diabéticos: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

To assess the level of knowledge of patients about diabetes, the presence of foot lesions and their care, through an integrative literature review. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, carried out in the LILACS, SCIELO, BDENF and Medline/Pubmed databases, using the descriptors: Diabetes; Diabetic foot; Self-care, Knowledge and Health Knowledge, Attitudes and Practice, with articles published between 2018 and 2023. Results: This review includes 13 articles published in Portuguese, English and Spanish. After analysis, three categories emerged: Knowledge of diabetes mellitus, Knowledge of injuries and Care and self-care. Conclusion: This research shows that patients with diabetes mellitus, with diabetic foot complications, have a certain lack of knowledge about the condition, its complications and preventive care, when compared to Brazil, which is mostly a result of the level of education, as well as the lack of information from professionals
