Promoção de cultura de segurança do paciente entre equipe de enfermagem: revisão integrativa da literatura

Abstract

The study in question seeks to identify the conduct performed by the nursing team in promoting a culture of patient safety in the context of health care. Method: This is an Integrative Literature Review, of a qualitative nature, with a descriptive and exploratory approach that started from the guiding question: What is the conduct of promoting patient safety in the health service environment by the nursing team described in the scientific literature? The study was guided by a previously defined formal work structure, based on a research protocol prepared and validated by expert reviewers. To survey the articles in the literature, the search was carried out between June and October 2022, via the BVS platform comprising the following databases: LILACS, BDENF, IBECS MEDLINE and SCIELO, with studies published between 2012 and 2022, adopting as inclusion criteria full texts published in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Results: This review included 21 updated scientific studies according to the protocol and established criteria. All material was organized based on its methodological design. Brazil was the country with the largest number of materials produced, with 18 (85.71%), followed by Portugal with 2 (9.52%) and Saudi Arabia with 1 (4.76%). Considering the content and objective of the studies, it was possible to divide the research into three categories: Profile and perception of patient safety culture by the nursing team; Implementation of patient safety culture by the nursing team; and Strategies to promote patient safety culture. Conclusion: It is understood that patient safety culture goes beyond the nursing team in maintaining health, but encompasses all those involved around the patient, such as family, health team, health managers and the patient. It was observed that nursing plays a fundamental role in promoting a safety culture by occupying leadership and management positions within the team. In addition, it was assessed that good performance in promoting culture lies in teamwork and effective communication.
