Catolicismo popular na trajetória de Eleotério Cidade

Abstract

The research aimed to understand the importance and appreciation of oral memory in the processes of reconstructing aspects of popular religiosity. To this end, we took as an object of analysis the memories of family members who narrate about the life of Eleotério Cidade and their relationship with the festivities in honor of the Divine Holy Spirit, which has been taking place for 52 years in a shed located in the Santo Antônio community, Mocambo region. of Arari District of the municipality of Parintins. The methodology is based on oral history guided by the authors ALBERTI (2008), MEIHY (2005), POLLAK (1989; 1992; 2010) with the participation of the descendants of one of the party's collaborators. The implementation of the festival helps to keep the memory of Eleutério Cidade alive and its appreciation in favor of the Divino Espirito Santo festival comes from its own characteristics, in which the community's tradition is kept alive based on the local collective memory.
