Resumo
Due to the immensity of rivers present in the Amazon make boats the main means of
locomotion of people and goods, most boats present in the region are made only by
hand, but for large locomotions many of these are provided with engines being the
simplest famous ‘’rabetas’’. Therefore, the aim of this work is to select a simple and
sturdy reverser synchronizer system that can be produced with simple machining
machinery from a real workshop. To this end, a study will be done on types of
transmissions, gears, joints and sizing of keys. We will also explain a little about the
types of vessels and their components in order to broaden naval knowledge and the
functionality of a reverser applied to a tail. From this review we determined two types
of joints between the hub and the axis that can be applied to the synchronizer that
are striated profile and sliding key, from this delimitation the study is made to find out
which one is the most economically viable. It was found that using the sliding key is
the best option. Once the keyed joint is defined, it is then dimensioned by applying
the maximum motor torque and safety factors. The dimensioned key is relatively
small and as the other components have not been defined it has been found to be
oversized at the end increasing the strength of the assembly and the service life.
