Resumo

The study addressed the theme of socio-emotional education and aimed to analyze its importance for the teaching-learning process in the context of the COVID 19 pandemic. And for this, we sought to investigate what is the conception that teachers have about socio-emotional education; discuss the importance of socio-emotional education in the teaching-learning process; verify how teachers seek to work socio-emotional education in the classroom; And identify how the context of the COVID-19 pandemic sensitized teachers to the importance of socio-emotional education. This is an exploratory-descriptive research of a qualitative nature that was developed on phenomenological assumptions. To collect data, we used the professional questionnaire prepared in google forms, the semi-structured interview conducted by google meet, and participant observation whose field research was carried out in a private school located in the east zone of Manaus and had the participation of two teachers who work in the early years of elementary school. It is found that teachers have knowledge about socioemotional education and have the perspective that it goes beyond the management of emotions. And the study identified the effort and difficulty of teachers to deal with children who are showing aggressive behaviors, as well as demonstrating that they are more anxious, impatient and depressed. In this respect, the research also points to the importance of socio-emotional care not only of children but also of teachers. Keywords: Socio-emotional education. Integral education. Pandemic.
