Abstract

This research analyzes the participation of women in struggles for housing that resulted in the formation of Itaúna II and Paulo Corrêa neighborhoods in Parintins, Amazonas. These occupations took place at Fazenda Itaúna in the 1990s. The research aimed to understand the lives of the residents and the motivations that led them to participate in the land occupation process. As a methodology, we used Oral History through interviews with women who participated in the occupations. We dialogued with some authors such as HELENE (2019), MENEZES (2017), PORTELLI (2010) and FERREIRA (2012). The research contributes to knowing how the formation of the two neighborhoods of Parintins occurred, highlighting the history lived by those women who were protagonists in the struggles for the right to the city and who corroborate in the constitution of alternative versions to the hegemonic memory.
